Block 2: Waiting for Somebody Else to Go First
The arrows are already taken and the repo already exists — you're not pioneering, you're inheriting thousands of hours of finished work.

The arrows are already taken and the repo already exists — you're not pioneering, you're inheriting thousands of hours of finished work.
Here's the game your brain is playing.
You're going to wait for someone else to go first. Take the arrows. Publish the case study. Prove it works. THEN you'll move.
I get it. It sounds smart. It sounds like risk management.
It's actually the most expensive move on the board — and you're the one making it while the other guys ship.
Erica said the quiet part out loud on July 13th: "There's a fear, I think, that's preventing them from fully embracing it, and that lack of understanding." (Client call 7/13)
(Brad note: I refer to team members and clients by name across these lessons. For context, these are folks I work with directly. If it sounds like a fit, apply at buildwithoptimus.com.)
That's the whole thing. It's not risk aversion, it's fog. And the fog gets you to stand still for eighteen months while your competitor — smaller team, less clever, worse market position — passes you on the outside because they were willing to look dumb for a week.
Here's what I said back to that room:
"This is the way work needs to happen. And I'm just figuring it out first." (Client call 7/13)
And to one of my clients, two weeks later: "I'd rather have you start from where I left off versus start from scratch... This represents thousands and thousands of hours of me messing around." (Client call 7/27)
Read that again.
Thousands. Of. Hours.
The arrows have been taken. I'm the guy who took them. So are the fifty other people who went first while you were "still researching." The frontier you're afraid of stepping onto has been trampled flat by people who look a lot like you, running businesses that look a lot like yours, and most of what they figured out is sitting in a repo waiting for you to inherit it.
You are not pioneering.
You are inheriting.
The gap is smaller than you think, and I told the team that on July 20: "I don't want to miss that wave in the weeds, because I think the gap is not as far as people think." (Client call 7/20) The waves close fast now. The moat between "I don't know how" and "it's live" is a weekend, and it shrinks every quarter.
Before you build anything — before you open a blank prompt, before you book a strategy session with someone selling you a course — check what already exists.
I said this to that same client back in July and I mean it: "before you have the urge to say, 'Hey, I'm going to go build this with agents'... just check my stuff first." (Client call 7/27)
There are 300+ skills in the repo. There are trainings in the free tier of this portal covering most of what you're about to google. Someone in the community has already asked your question.
Start from where the last person left off.
You never go back to scratch once you feel what that shortcut feels like.
If you haven't done Homework #0 yet — the Access Audit in Block 12 — do it before you get to Block 3. Half the reason people can't move is they don't have the keys to the buildings they own. Get the keys first.
